Terms of Service

These are the terms for tutoring with me. They're short because the arrangement is simple: you book a lesson, I teach it, and you pay for it afterwards. If anything here is unclear, ask me before you book and I'll explain it.

Who I am

I'm Samuel Taboola, and I run Samuel Maths, an online one-to-one tutoring service for GCSE and A-Level Maths, A-Level Further Maths, and GCSE and A-Level Physics. In these terms, "I" and "me" mean Samuel Taboola, and "you" means the parent or guardian who books lessons for a child. You can reach me at:

The free first session

Your child's first session is free and lasts one hour. You don't need to give me any payment details for it, and you're under no obligation to book anything afterwards.

Lessons

A normal lesson lasts two hours. Every lesson is live and one to one, held online over Zoom with a shared whiteboard, and it follows your child's own exam board and specification. We agree each lesson time together in advance.

I never record video or audio of your child. You can read more about how I keep lessons safe on my About page.

Prices and payment

The hourly rate depends on the subject, and the current rates are on my pricing page. A two-hour lesson costs twice the hourly rate for that subject.

You pay by bank transfer after each lesson. There are no joining fees, no blocks of lessons to buy in advance and no minimum number of lessons. If I ever change my rates, I'll tell you before the change applies to any lesson you book.

Cancelling or moving a lesson

If you need to cancel or move a lesson, please tell me at least 24 hours before it starts, so that I can offer the time to another student. I don't charge for a late cancellation, but I do ask for the notice.

If I have to cancel a lesson, I'll tell you as early as I can and offer you another time. You never pay for a lesson that didn't take place.

Stopping lessons

There's no contract and no notice period. You can stop booking lessons at any time, for any reason, and you only pay for lessons that have already taken place.

Your legal right to cancel

Because you book with me at a distance rather than in person, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. To cancel, email or message me using the details above. If you ask for a lesson to take place within those 14 days, you pay for that lesson once it has taken place, in the normal way. In practice this changes very little: you only ever pay for lessons that have happened, and you can stop at any time.

What I can and can't promise

I'll prepare for every lesson and teach it with reasonable care and skill. I can't promise a particular grade, because a grade also depends on the work your child does between lessons and on the exam itself. I'll always tell you honestly how your child is getting on.

Your information

How I collect, use and keep your information, and your child's, is set out in my Privacy Policy.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with anything, please tell me first by email or WhatsApp, and I'll try to put it right quickly. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

If I change these terms, I'll update the "last updated" date at the top. Any change applies only to lessons booked after it.
