I'm Samuel. I tutor GCSE and A-Level Maths, Further Maths and GCSE Physics, online and one to one. Before you hand over an hour of your child's week, here's who I am and what I actually do in a lesson.
Hi, I'm Samuel
I'm a second-year Electrical and Electronic Engineering student at the University of Bristol. I sat the same exams your child is sitting, recently enough to remember exactly which bits were hard.
Engineering is applied maths for three years straight, so the material never goes stale on me. The topics that trip students up at GCSE and A-Level — algebra that won't rearrange, trigonometry that won't stick, the jump from mechanics to calculus — are things I use, not things I once revised.

My sessions run on real exam questions and past papers rather than endless theory. Question by question, we work through the problems that actually come up, until your child can sit down on the day and recognise exactly what's being asked of them.

Three things I do in every session, and one I don't.
Find the real gap
A student stuck on quadratics is often really stuck on fractions. We work backwards until we hit solid ground, then build up from there, because patching over a gap only moves the problem a few weeks down the line.
Work real exam questions
Lessons run on past papers from your child's own board. The boards reuse question styles year after year, so the more of them your child has seen, the less the real paper can surprise them.
Make them do the writing
I could solve every question on the whiteboard and your child would learn very little. They hold the pen. My job is the question that gets them unstuck, not the answer.
What I don't do: lecture through slides, set an hour of silent worksheet time, or pretend a grade will move without work between sessions. If a topic needs three lessons rather than one, I'll say so.
